At National Taiwan University, McRobbie met with President Dr. Si-Chen Lee and, together with Vice President David Zaret, signed an agreement that establishes faculty and student exchanges between the IU Maurer School of Law and NTU College of Law. Professor Fred Aman of the Maurer School has had a relationship with the NTU College of Law since the 1990’s, and those ties have continued today to include IU faculty Mark Janis and Jay Krishnan and NTU faculty Chao-Ju CHEN, Jiunn-rong YEH, Ming-yan SHIEH (Dean and leading intellectual policy expert in Taiwan), Jau-yuan HWANG, Chun-yuan LIN, and Wen-chen CHANG.

NTU was ranked 80th worldwide and 15th in Asia in the 2012 QS World University Rankings. In the 2012 Times Higher Education World University Rankings, NTU placed 134th in the world and 14th in Asia. It is the best of all Taiwanese institutions of higher education.

McRobbie also had a briefing with Christopher J. Marut, Director of the American Institute in Taiwan to gain a better sense of opportunities and constraints to strengthen IU’s profile and name recognition in Taiwan, as well as learn about specific programs, initiatives, or other opportunities related to research and teaching collaborations, mobility of faculty and students, and internships for students.

The IU delegation met with Dr. Pi-Twan HUANG, Political Deputy Minister of Education, to conclude the visit to Taiwan. McRobbie and Dr. Huang briefly discussed the current Taiwanese higher education environment and opportunities for IU to expand its activities in Taiwan.
